Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Celebrates Completion of City Center Lofts

July 8, 2021

Benton Harbor, MI. – On Tuesday evening, June 29, 2021, Cressy Commercial Real Estate and Cornerstone Alliance welcomed over 75 guests for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of City Center Lofts at 74 West Main Street in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Attendees heard remarks from the President and CEO of Cornerstone Alliance, Rob Cleveland, the CEO of Cressy Commercial Real Estate, Chris Fielding, and the Benton Harbor City Commissioner, Mary Alice Adams, who ceremoniously cut the ribbon.

During Chris Fielding’s comments, he shared, “This is the first time in over 15 years that the building is dry on the inside and has a roof. It certainly gave us challenges, but at the end of the day, we could not be prouder of the final product and all the parties involved. He continued, “One of the criteria we look at for development is whether it is beneficial to the community. This project was.”

Constructed in the 1880’s, the building was on the verge of demolition before a partnership between the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the City Council of Benton Harbor, Cornerstone Alliance, and Cressy Commercial Real Estate resulted in a complete rehabilitation of its structure and purpose.

At the celebration, guests toured the 20,000 square foot building which features two available commercial suites and 16 neo-industrial style lofts that range from studio apartments to one-bedroom apartments with an office. There are currently seven lofts that remain available for lease.
